What I Do
I am proficient in a great manifold of training methodologies, from the most traditional to the most advanced, and I keep myself up to date. What methodology I use depends completely on my athletes's goals. I believe that whatever the methodology used, an exercise routine is only successful if it is consistent and sustainable. And this largely depends on the athlete's personal needs, and on a trustworthy and empathetic relationship between coach and trainee. Once I have assessed an athlete's current level and the methodology we are going to follow, my main framework is always the same: mastery of the fundamentals of sound movement.
My expertise is on CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting. I use these tools to develop a broad and complete bases of General Physical Preparedness (GPP) for my athletes. I also work with people looking for specific training goals, people looking for a strength and conditioning routine to complement their sport whether is running, swimming, cycling or team sports. I love working with advanced crossfitters or olympic weightlifters.
I love fitness, but I separate myself from the most traditional fitness industry's practices. I don't do hard sells, magic tips, fast as the speed of light fat loss, or 3 month 6 packs. I do not prey on my client's insecurities, I want you confident and strong. I do like motivational quotes though, but only in small doses.

Who I am
I am a learner, and I like to help others learn. I am a coach. I am a movement analyst.
I was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. My parents always pushed me to study hard, and to educate myself constantly. As a result I have a bachelor's degree in Mathematics (Universidad de los Andes), a M.A. in Latin-american Literature (Universidad Javeriana), and a PhD in Spanish Literature (University of Chicago). My academic interests are broad and exemplify my drive to learn. I started working out as a way to help me stay disciplined during my years as a graduate student. Slowly what started as hobby, developed into a part-time job, and became my main interest. I discovered moving better greatly increased my capacity to think, to let my thoughts move, and to have a more flexible and open intelect. When I started training others, I realized I could have a bigger and more meaningful impact in my gym, that in the classroom. Since then I try to help others to maximize their fitness.
